Hey guys, thanks for visiting. I’m Jennifer, a college student from Plano, Texas going to school in Atlanta, Georgia. I’m Taiwanese, but speak Mandarin (read: Chinese). I have one older sister, Jessica, who is two years older than me and is studying to get her Masters in public accounting at UT. My childhood - best - friend - slash - BFF - slash - fellow - cook - extraordinaire goes there, too. At school, I live in an apartment close to campus with two lovely ladies. (My previous roommate ran off to Germany for a semester. Not my fault.) I’m a journalism and business major (marketing concentration), and I work at our school newspaper as the sales manager.
The best job I ever had was working at a Barnes and Noble as a bookseller. Fun, but offers somewhat limited career development. If all goes as planned, I’ll move to New York after I graduate and work at a big advertising agency as an account executive.
Web design was my first real hobby, I think. I started my first website when I was eight years old. In the spirit of not embarrassing myself, I won’t divulge the nature of that site, but I’ll say that whatever you think it was, it’s worse. I started using Photoshop at ten and started my first blog via Blogger when I was thirteen. Over the years I taught myself some (very) rudimentary PHP and learned some basic functions of mySQL databases. For the most part I don’t have time to do much programming, but every couple of years I get the urge to start some random project. And so it begins.

I would like to think that I can’t be summed up in a few mere paragraphs. Instead, who doesn’t love bulleted lists? Here are a few highlights.
- I had my ears pierced for 12 years without realizing it.
- I hand-sewed the curtains in my room.
- In middle school, I was in a play where a guy had to kiss me on the forehead. Before our first show, he got into a fight with a kid who was standing in front of me and ended up punching me in the face. I feel like this is says a lot about the romance in my life.
- When I like people, not just romantically but in general, I tend to remember the clothes they wear.
- I love the WSJ.
- I once got hit by a motorcycle while crossing a street in Taiwan. It didn’t hurt because I was unconscious.
- My favorite food is broccoli. I cook a mean lemon broccoli dish.
- I took piano lessons for 13 years, with limited success. I like singing better. I once took guitar lessons, but my guitar teacher said I didn’t “respect” the guitar as a musical instrument.
- I want to work for ____.
- I write book reviews for our school magazine.
- The first time I auditioned for a show, it was the Plano Children’s Theater and they were doing a medley of Aesop’s fables. I didn’t know you were supposed to prepare a piece so I went in and they asked me to sing the alphabet. I started off okay, but I got nervous, ended up at Z, but realized I’d missed some letters so I went back and sung those too. My finale consisted of trailing off awkwardly and glancing at the clock.
